Soraira Urquiza
Dr. Soraira Urquiza is the daughter of (formerly) undocumented immigrants from Nayarit, Mexico. She is a first-generation college graduate and professional. In addition to her Doctorate in Educational Leadership from the University of Southern California, she earned a Master’s degree in Chicana/o Studies from CSU Northridge and a Bachelor’s in Psychology from Mount St Mary’s University. Dr. Urquiza has over fourteen years of experience in admissions and records and is presently the Registrar for the American Film Institute Conservatory in Los Angeles, CA. She is the current Chair of the Latinx Caucus for the American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers (AACRAO) and President-Elect for the Pacific Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers (PACRAO). She is the first Latina to serve in that role since the organization began in 1923. She is very passionate about higher education, both as an administrator and faculty. Dr. Urquiza is an alumna of the Los Angeles Community College District’s Project Match program and has taught several courses in Chicanx Studies at East LA College and CSUN. She currently teaches College 1 for Pasadena City College. Her other passion is baseball history, and on weekends she can be found at her hobby-job, giving tours of Dodger Stadium. GO DODGERS!
