Lake Tahoe Community College (LTCC) District announces a professional opportunity to lead in the area of the Lake Tahoe College Promise (LTCP) department as part of the student services team. Under the general direction of the Vice President of Student Services, this position will fully plan, direct, coordinate, and implement services such as student recruitment, orientations, job skills assessments and job placement for LTCP participants. The Director of LTCP will oversee and serve the Lake Tahoe College Promise program which provides free tuition, bookstore stipends, priority access to LTCC’s free textbook lending library, and an array of free support services for first-time, full-time college students who are California residents or a Nevada resident of the Tahoe Basin.
Lake Tahoe Community College is one of only three community colleges in California selected to receive a grant that will allow the college to enhance and expand its free college program. Through this grant, LTCC will be able to duplicate some of the highlights of the Skyline and CUNY Promise models, including a specific focus on improving the three-year graduation rate, providing a dedicated Promise program counselor and director, maintaining a peer mentoring program, providing ongoing incentives for Promise students to encourage continuation of their studies, and the creation of cohorts of Promise students who start college as a group, take certain classes together, attend specialized events together, and build relationships based on common interests.
