Under the direction of the Superintendent/President, the Vice President of Student Success manages functions associated with educational and support programs of the college.

Serves as the Chief Student Services Officer for the institution and has primary responsibility for leadership, management, and administrative oversight for the student services division of the college.

As a small college Vice-President, the VPSS will be responsible for day-to-day management and close oversight of functions.
Supervises assigned programs and employees in the areas of student support and enrollment services.

Supervises counseling faculty and oversees annual schedules for faculty and staff in assigned program areas.
Develops and administers assigned budgets, manages various categorical budgets, and assists with the planning of the annual District budget. Recommends priorities for academic counseling and student support service positions.

Directs the preparation and implementation of annual program plans and other reports within Federal, State, and local guidelines.

Attends Board meetings; makes presentations; prepares and reviews items submitted by student services managers for consideration by the Board of Trustees.

Develops with staff, the College’s various student support programs, including the determination of new program areas, maintenance of standards, the evaluation of faculty and staff, and the identification of priorities for the establishment of full-time faculty and support positions.

Performs personnel functions (e.g. interviewing, evaluating, supervising, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining adequate staffing, enhancing productivity of personnel and achieving objectives within budget.

Coordinates and works cooperatively with the Vice President of Academic Affairs to provide integrated instructional and student services to benefit students.

Provides leadership in developing operational policies, procedures, priorities, and initiatives in both existing and new programs.

Oversees advisory committee processes and ensures advisory committees meet at least annually or as required by program guidelines.

Serves as the administrator over student discipline and conduct corresponding policies and procedures. Oversees the student discipline and grievance procedures; ensures the process is conducted with accuracy and is equitable across the student community.

Directs the athletic program; enforce all rules and policies governing athletics; supervises the athletic director; and work in cooperation with conference officials for compliance.
Supports the advancement of the institution’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion efforts in support of students.

Oversees the housing program which includes providing direction and supervision to the Housing Coordinator, Resident Advisors, property owner, and other external contractors and vendors.

Oversees the Promise, Equity, EOPS, TRiO and other student support programs.

Interprets and implements rules, regulations, codes, policies and laws relating to assigned programs.
Acts as chief administrative officer of the District if assigned in the absence of the Superintendent/President; the Vice President, Administrative Services; and the Vice President, Academic Affairs.
