-Provide academic, transfer, career and personal counseling to male Black/African American, Latinx, and other men of color including virtually (via telephone and video counseling)
-Monitor and intervene in the academic progress of male Black/African American, Latinx, and other men of color on campus
-Refer students to appropriate campus support services such as Black Collegians, Adelante, RISING Program, Peer Navigators, EOPS, financial aid
-Outreach to SMC departments/programs to recruit men of color to engage and benefit from student support services
-Co-coordinate programs that include Men of Color Mentoring, Men of Color Action Network, Brother to Brother Mentoring, etc.), and develop additional programming around social and environmental issues affecting the lives of African American males
-Facilitate the Men of Color Action Network council (SMC faculty and staff)
-Identify expert speakers on campus and local communities to present on particular themes and maintain communication with them
-Build partnerships with the local community for support and to enhance the appreciation of African American/Black male students
-Maintain a consistent website and social media presence which includes the design of online marketing materials
-Other counseling duties as assigned.
